Jack’s character analysis chapter 3
I’m going to talk about Jack and how has his behaviour and his personality has change.
Firstly I want to talk about how Jack’s personality has change because in this chapter. We can see that some days have passed and the boys have built two shelters, while everyone was near the beach Jack was hunting in the forest following a pig and we can see that Jack doesn’t behave at all like a normal person “Jack himself shrank at this cry for a minute became less hunter than a furtive thing” and that he looks to be mad “They were bright blue, eyes that in this frustration seemed balting and nearly mad” and that he only thinks about meat and killing pigs “From the pig-run came the quick, hard patter of hoofs, a castanet sound, seductive, maddening – the promise of meat.”
Secondly I’m going to speak about Jack’s obsession with pigs and meat because in this chapter we see that Jack is no more himself and he only thinks about killing pigs and getting meat to eat because they have been eating fruit and peanuts since they have dropped in and they want meat, we knew from the beginning that Jack likes hunting so he decided to be the leader of “The hunters”, after hunting Jack went back to the beach and he started to argue with Ralph about how useless are the boys but Jack said “I went on. I thought, by myself—-” The madness came into his eyes again. “I thought I might kill” here we can see that Jack is not more himself and he only wants meat.
Lord of the flies Chapter 1 summary
In chapter 1 Piggy and Ralph found a conch in the water and Ralph decided to make it sound. After this more and more boys appeared from the forest some dress and some naked and also a group of boys lead by Jack appear and ask for an adult.
Exploring Jack chapter 1
What he says- “Isn’t there a man here?” “Choir! stand still!” “Alright then, sit down, let him alone.” “He’s always throwing a faint.” “Aren’t there any grown-ups?” “Then we’ll have to look after ourselves.” “Kids names-why should i be Jack? I’m Merridew.”
How is he described- “tall, thin and bony. His hair was red beneath the black cap…crumpled and freckled, ugly without silliness…two light blue eyes, frustrated now, and turning, or ready to turn, to anger.”
How he acts and response towards others- Politely “Isn’t there a man here?”; “Aren’t there any grown-ups” Here Jack doesn’t seem to be angry or to act like he is ; Inquiringly “Kids names-why should i be Jack? I’m Merridew” He wants to be treat like an adult so he want the others to call him by his surname . Adultly “Then we’ll have to look after ourselves” In this quotation we can see that Jack is not behaving like a child or a teenager he is behaving like and adult. Aggressively “Alright then, sit down, let him alone.” Here we can see that Jack don’t like people that are weak.
Jack’s character analysis chapter 2
I will two about how does Jack change in the story.
Firstly I will talk about Jack’s Jack’s behavior that doesn’t seem to chance a lot but you can found that Jack behaves bad when he is talking with Piggy and doesn’t care about Piggy and what he said.”His specs-use them as burning glasses!” “Piggy was surrounded before he could back away” “Here- Let me go! His voice rose to a shriek of terror as Jack snatched the glasses of his face”
Secondly I will talk about Jack’s ideas, in chapter two after Ralph has been chose to be the chief Jack decide that he and his choir are going to be the hunters to hunt pigs and get meat “Jack broke in. All the same you need an army-for hunting. Hunting pigs—“.
Also in chapter 2 we can see that the boys were argue about having the right to speak when they have the conch in their hands, for example when they were in the mountain Piggy was holding the conch to speak but Jack told him to shut up and that none care about his ideas. We cans see this almost at the end of chapter 2 when Jack said “Oh, shut up!” and Piggy said ” I got the conch,” said Piggy, in a hurt voice. “I got a right to speak”.
Jack’s character analysis chapter 1
I’m going to talk about Jack and how he behaves at the beginning of the story.
Firstly I want to talk about Jack´s appearance, the first time that jack appeared ha was dressing a golden cap this meant that there were boys from different places and schools. Also you can know if the boys are from the upper or Lower class by the uniforms they wear. Jack doesn’t look really nice and no even like an adult he looked like a tenage “His face was crumpled and freckled, and ugly without silliness”. Jack was frustrated maybe because he was in a desert island and he didn’t know if he is going to be rescue also we know he is a teenager so he oblivious is afraid and frustrated.
Secondly we know that in the island the only ones that could lead the boys are Jack and Ralph, we know that Ralph is the chief who tell the other ones what to do but Jack when he first appeared he was the leader of the choir and an authority which make the rest of the boys feel intimidated except from Ralph. The way they were dress and how they behave intimidate the others the most one Piggy “Out of this face stared two light blue eyes, frustrated now, turning, or ready turn, to anger”.
And also Jack doesn’t seem to be someone who can be satisfy very easy “What he saw of the fair-haired boy with the creamy shell on his knees did not seem to satisfy him”
Jack’s character analysis chapter 4
I’m going to talk about Jack because is one of the characters that has change more in the story. Jack in this chapter is the one that has change more
Firstly i want to talk about Jack which seems to be the character that has change the most, because he only thinks about killing a pigs and his blood, when Ralph started to argue with him about the fire Jack was only talking about how did he kill the pig “There was lashings of blood” said Jack laughing and shuddering “you should have seen it”. Jack and Ralph are the only two in the island which act like an adult
Jack and Ralph are the only two in the island which act like an adult i want to talk about the behaviour of Jack which has change into a bad way and has started to affect the kids for example the way they think and their behaviour we can see this in the twins Sam and Eric which followed Jack to hunt the pig and when they were back they both looked like Jack “………………………………………………………………………”.
Chapter 4 summary. Lord of the flies
In chapter 4 Ralph gets angry because the ones that were taking care if the fire let it out instead if keeping it alive, if a ship gets near the island they could see the smoke and rescue them but with the fire out there was no chance. When Jack finally gets there the only thing he says is what he did to the pig and how excited he was but Ralph instead with anger tells him that his “Hunters” let the fire out, and that a ship could have save them.
When they started to cook the pig Maurice decided to break the silence asking where did they found the pig and tell them everything they did to kill it.
