The Tiger

How does the speaker present ideas or conflict in The Tiger?

The speaker uses a number of ways to present the idea of fire and what it might mean in the tiger. When I read stanza four, there are number used that are to do with the process of using fire to make a chain. Why?

The tiger could be the chain. The fire is heats the chain, to take the hammer shape the chain.

Globled like a full sail string. His father was a strong person.

His eye narrowed  and angled at the ground. His dad was concentrate on doing his wor.

All I ever did was follow In his broad shadow around the farm. His dad was always working and couldn’t help him so he feels bad.

“But today it is my father who keeps stumbling behind me, and will not go away”. His father is dead so he now is the one that needs to do the work but he can’t because he isn’t like his father, he maybe remember when he was a kid and he couldn’t help his dad because he wasn’t as him.

This is related to the title Now he isn’t following his father maybe he thinks his father is following him because he isn’t as good as his dad and also he maybe think that his dad is going to be following him until he see that his son is strong enough to do the work that he wasn’t able to do because isn’t as strong as his father.

~Most adults think that we are destroying the English language but I don’t think so. In my opinion young people aren’t destroying  the English language. I think  that destroying is not the best word I think that the best word could be changing or  improving the English language.

The way in which someone speaks depends on the country that person comes from and not only that for example other three things that could affect the way someone speaks is the status. The vocabulary is different in each country in Spain we have a different way pronounce the letters if I compare it to other countries. The accent is different in each country I’m from Ecuador but I also lived in Spain and now I’m living in London so my accent is different from my friends.

As I said the status could change  the way someone speaks if a person think he is cool and better from the rest he will speak people in different tones depending on who is he talking to family, friends or other adults.

However we didn’t just think about creating a new way to communicate what I think is that young people have maybe learn the slang  from adults and that we are not destroying the English language we developed it using the old slang that the adults used so we took those words and create new ways to communicate using slang words, emojis and more things instead of using long sentences or just words. These shows that young people  is creative and imaginative because they have create more and more ways to communicate an example of this is the use of acronyms for example BTW which means “by the way” here I can see that we decide to use just the initials instead of the normal words but they decide to be even more creative using the pronunciation of the letters instead of the initials or the words, here is an example “beeteedubs” which also means “by the way”.

Adults are the only ones that complain about the use of slang, emojis and the other things but they also use them. At the beginning of the essay i put three pictures, two of them are a conversation between my friend and my and the other one is between my mother and me. Both are about different things but both are link the way we talk. The way I talk with my friend is different from the way I talk with my mother. We all like to use emojis. In this two conversations my friend and my mother use long sentences and some contain emojis but my mother use formal sentences and my friend use informal sentences but both have lack of punctuation. The difference between them is that my friend uses slang and clippings while my mother doesn’t also i use formal sentences that have lack of punctuation but I don’t use emojis, clippings or slang. My friend uses more than one interrogative and exclamation marks instead of one with could mean confusion also he uses emojis to express feelings. In these two text my friend is the only one that uses emojis to express his feelings in this case he use it to show that he is laughing.

The use of slang, clippings or acronyms is an easy way to communicate if you don’t like to write long sentences or just long words but it is difficult to understand for people that is not used to it maybe that’s why some adults say that we are destroying the language but we are not, we are changing it, improving it. What I think is that we are trying to improve what adults started before by improving the slang that they have created the one  which now they want young people to stop using. Basically what I’m tying to say is that we are finishing what they started and didn’t finish.
